Sigma 28mm f/1.8 EX DG
Review of Sigma 28mm f/1.8 EX DG wide-angle lens. Review created 2010, latest update 2013.
Facts
- a high image quality wide-angle lens, much better than Canon EF 28mm f/2.8
- estimated retail price 440 EUR
- in my use from 1/2010 to current date
Pros
- great image quality
- sharp even wide open (of course sharpness gets even better when stopped down)
- you don't see often a 28 mm lens having the widest aperture of f/1.8
- a reliable performer in all kinds of situations
- the internals must be full of glass based on the weight of the lens
Cons
- not USM/HSM so sometimes the focusing seems a bit slow when there is fast action
- must be the largest and heaviest 28 mm lens on the market
- the outer body is plastic (but if it was metal the lens would be even more heavier)
