  • a high image quality wide-angle lens, much better than Canon EF 28mm f/2.8
  • estimated retail price 440 EUR
  • in my use from 1/2010 to current date
  • fills nicely the gap between my 17 mm and 50 mm primes but somehow this is the lens that gets left home often
  • great image quality
  • sharp even wide open (of course sharpness gets even better when stopped down)
  • you don't see often a 28 mm lens having the widest aperture of f/1.8
  • a reliable performer in all kinds of situations
  • the internals must be full of glass based on the weight of the lens
  • not USM/HSM so sometimes the focusing seems a bit slow when there is fast action
  • must be the largest and heaviest 28 mm lens on the market
  • the outer body is plastic (but if it was metal the lens would be even more heavier)
